The Best Year Of Our Life – 2000 (Links in Life) by Leo Crocker Rogers
Gratitude Ahead It used to be that I could do things 100%, and I was 80% satisfied. Now I do things 80%, and I am 100% satisfied. Innate Danger The greatest danger to dumb people is that they think they are dumb. The greatest danger to smart people is that they think they are smart. The only safety is trusting Mind. Trusting the Rich Enron’s deals were made intentionally deceptive by men who thought they were smarter than anyone else. These men not only distorted our electrical grid supply, their greed stole from those who trusted in their company. These men stole $31.2 billion dollars from trusting individuals. I mention this because the smooth talking and respected former Nasdaq chairman Bernard L. Madoff, of 70 years seniority, has done even worse. He stole $50 billion dollars from a whole spectrum of people – the rich and even charitable foundations. Bernard would convince a powerful person to invest in his ponsie scheme. Then the convinced person would tell his golf-playing buddies of the lucrative deal who would then tell others, and they would want a part of the action. They trusted a friend who trusted Bernard. Bernard's greed and his financial collapse is shutting down charitable institutions that have been doing great work for our society. Due Diligence You may believe the comments of someone you trust because you know them personally. What you do not know is who they trust. This can be dangerous. If the one you trust takes council from one you do not trust, you are at risk. Peel the orange before you buy it. We are to do our own due diligence. It is better to walk away from 20 seemingly good deals to avoid one catastrophe. It is almost a surety that those that appear to have wealth, do not, they just wish to appear so, so others will trust them. With Care We never know the reason for the links between events, mental or physical. When we think we do and thus rearrange or remove a few links to scrimp on time, make more money, think we are smarter than others, or for any reason, the collateral damage can sometimes, and often is, so far beyond our comprehension that we may not even associate the resulting disasters with our link rearrangements or removals. We are not as smart as we think we are. There is a reason for every rock, tree, animal, person on this earth. Let us act with great care as we rearrange or remove these beings. They are indubitably connected to the links of us all, both in their own regard and too in their place and time. If we must fiddle with links, we must, but if we need not, we should not. The thoughts and acts of our life should be in accord with Mind, the source of all links and the order or such links. Needs Met When we do everything we can, and do not get what we want, if we keep trying, we get what we need. Destiny We cannot map our life. We can only map who we are. Who we are maps where we go, who we attract, and who we bless. 2009 Gratitude A warm bath on a cold night. A dog at our side or a cat in our lap. Friends, who when asked for help, ask only two questions: "Where and when?" Being able, however slight, to make the world a better place.
