Leos

Cover = your hat. Keeps head warm in winter.

C4 = explosive. Can carry in luggage.  Airport x-ray machines see it as Styrofoam packing for t.v.s, binoculars, etc.  Sneaky.

M16 = U.S. assault weapon. Russian AK47 preferred by many combat troops.

Garrison = Pisscutter head gear that is foldable. Don’t wear inside building.

Non-com = Non-commissioned officer. Gets the job done.  Street smart graduate.

COB = Enlisted sailor in charge of submarine crew.  Big man on board.

XO = Second in command on a sub. Knows the ropes.

Boat = Boats can be carried on ships except for submarines that are called a boat because initially subs were so small they could be carried on ships.

On your six = immediately behind you.  If you have to look, it is too late.

Ping = a sonar sound pulse to locate an object under water. "One ping." — Red October

Swimming with the fishes = dead at sea.

DFDS = Dead fish don’t swim.

No Joy = Unsuccessful; no information.

Roger = Yes. Roger that. Yes to exactly what you just said.

Wilco = Will comply.

GG = Golden gut; thinking from intuition.  Better than stuff piled higher and deeper (PhD)

DB = down bubble = dive the boat.

Bolo = Be on the look out.

5 over 5 = strong signal and very understandable.  Not tech service by Qwest.

Have the ball = fighter jet on target to catch a hook -- land on an aircraft carrier.

Skipper: Master of the ship. Also, name of my dog.

And why all this? Just so we could reach this finale.

Let me explain:

The plethora of names above were compiled because I overheard some law enforcement officers talking to one another and when they referred to each other, they all had the name "Leo". This made no sense, as there are few "Leos" in the world. So I searched the web for acronyms. There were many combinations of letters and names I had heard in the past. So I listed some of interesting ones. The last of course was the finale. It was "Leo" which the men called themselves because they all Leos -- Law Enforcement Officers.
