Be Impressed

by

Many times when I come across something new, all of a sudden I see that same newness in other places. It is as if I were blind and made seeing.

Before I purchased my Chrysler 300, I had to look all over town to find one on the road. Finally, I purchase what I thought was an outstanding model with a most preferred color. Now six months later, I see 300s everywhere and some are more outstandingly decked out than mine. All good, some by far better than mine.

And here comes the exception. I saw the Iroshnikov brothers perform a physical prowess routine to the "1492 Conquest of Paradise" by Vangelisi, the first video on the web URL's listed below.

And like my first blush encounter with the 300, I was very impressed. And then I saw more of the same. But in this instance, what I saw first was best. There are others, but none like Unitas and Berry or the Iroshnikov brothers. You will see.

What impressed me was the grace of their routine and by that I mean: slow large muscle control; immaculate positioning; seamless transitions; and most impressively, the closed mouth barely breathing exertion that made me think they were angels on the wires of God.

Not rushing, they exhibit outstanding body movement -- impossible slow motion not of trickery, but of art.

I have judged gymnastic events. In fact when Jason Gatson, an Olympic Gold Metal winner was very young, I was one of his coaches. I have spent hundreds of hours in a gym. What I learned was that there are gymnasts and then there are unbelievable gymnasts just like there are coaches and there are unbelievable coaches. And knowing what I know, and have taught, what the Iroshnikov brothers do is unbelievable. To some watching the routine, they gasp. Personally, I shed tears as have others. Note that others lurch to position, or jump to gain physical advantage. These brothers are a ballet of grace like F-14 Tomcats touching wings while doing an inverted loop. Unbelievable skill.

Power and grace. Flexibility and strength.

Keep the URL for the Iroshnikov brothers "Golden Power - Partner Equilibristic." When you are discouraged and need to be lifted beyond your tired old self, watch these men, one 39 and the other 31 (so I was told). It will encourage you. See it enough times that you can close your eyes and feel the poise and grace. Note the face of the younger brother, seamlessly and without strain exhibit strength, strength, strength.

These men flow with repudiation of limitation. They are not over muscled. They are strong. They are not passive. They are dynamic. They are trusting. Each does what he does with such confidence that the other does not even question. Unity in near perfection.
When you watch the other URLs, you will see additional Sport Acrobatics. Really outstanding, and yet the grace is not as strong. By comparison our world Olympic gymnastics is to me somewhat flat, sterile, and unimaginative. Who watches men's gymnastics any more? And even the women's gymnastics is tepid. Can you imagine, just imagine having the Iroshnikov brothers in your home doing their routine? Is it not beyond your wildest imagination, and yet if you could, you would run into the streets to call all you know, "Come, come watch what you have never seen before." You could not contain yourself. If you have ever done a single pull up on a parallel bar and tried to turn your wrists over to then push upward to a press, you know what you have seen is the result of discipline and practice extraordinare.

Enjoy.
